Business Hours Reminder

Summer is almost here and we want to remind all of our knitters and crocheters that, as we have done in previous years, the hours at the shop will be reduced for July and August.

Our Summer Hours will be:

Tuesday, July 4th to Saturday, September 2nd

Tuesday to Friday          10 am to 2 pm

Saturday                          10 am to 3 pm

Watch for our Summer Sale in honour of Canada’s 150th Anniversary – it’s coming soon!

We will return to our regular hours on September 5th, which are:

Tuesday to Saturday     10 am to 4 pm

Regardless of the time of year, Once Upon a Sheep is Closed on Sundays, Mondays, and all Canadian Statutory Holidays

Please Note:

Our store is run 100% by volunteers, and we are located in an open portion of The Salvation Army building in Maple Ridge.

Because of our uniqueness, we do not have a separate entrance, and therefore cannot physically “lock the door to the shop” on Mondays when we are closed (but The Salvation Army is open).

We apologize for any inconvenience, but please respect the fact that The Salvation Army staff are not able to assist you in Once Upon a Sheep during our non-business hours.

Yarn Bombing!

Let’s Have Fun!

If you have never heard of Yarn Bombing, it is described on Wikipedia as:

“Yarn bombing, yarnbombing, yarn storming, guerrilla knitting, kniffiti, urban knitting or graffiti knitting is a type of graffiti or street art that employs colourful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn or fibre rather than paint or chalk.”

This is a very different and fun way to use up the extra yarn you have on hand.  The actual yarn bombing will take place around June 11th in Mission.

If you would like to contribute strips to this community project, please drop them off at Once Upon a Sheep before 4:00 pm on Tuesday, May 30th, and we will deliver them for you.

Thanks to Our Volunteers

In recognition of National Volunteer Week from April 23rd to 27th, we would like to express a huge Thank You to all of our volunteers who keep the shop running so smoothly.

In addition to assisting our customers and staffing the shop, there are many endless hours spent behind the scenes as well. Your dedication, knowledge, special skills and individual talents are very much appreciated.

Woolith Fair Coming Soon!

Once Upon a Sheep is a Passport Stop on the
Woolith Fair 2017 Yarn Crawl

Woolith Fair Logo

We are Open:
Friday, April 28th and Saturday, April 29th
10 am to 5 pm

During this event, Once Upon a Sheep is offering:

  • 10% off all regular priced yarns, needles, and accessories; plus
  • an additional 10% discount for shoppers who hold a current Once Upon A Sheep Passionknitter Discount Card or a valid West Coast Knitters’ Guild Membership Card.

Woolith Fair is asking Crawlers to help support the blanket drive for Variety – The Children’s Charity of British Columbia by knitting or crocheting an 8″ square using a soft, acrylic based yarn. You can use any pattern or thickness of yarn, provided it is mostly acrylic (and therefore machine washable), and soft to the touch.

Your knitted or crocheted squares can be dropped off at Once Upon a Sheep anytime between now and April 29th.

So far, we have collected some lovely squares, but please help us make a much larger contribution to this great cause.
